garftit

I would like to introduce you to Garfield. He and his brother Aruba are the Elders of my brood. Garfield was an extra large kitten to begin with, but in the past couple of years he has put on a lot of weight. He weighs 23.5 pounds and he obviously walks on his toes. In 1984 I finally got an apartment that I was allowed to have pets. I decided on cats because you didn't have to walk cats in the rain. Since I never had cats before I was in for an awakening. I adopted Garfield and his brother from the Humane society in Hawthorne California.

When Garfield was a kitten he would get this "Rodent Infection" which would cause welts on his tongue, lips and inside of his mouth. He had several operations (we were beginning to call him Master Charge) one of which he had 1/3 of his tongue cut out. When he was about 5 years old it all stopped and he has been a very healthy cat since {except for his weight}.

Another sad day for me, 15 March 1999, seems like I just lost Aruba and Garfield started losing weight and drooling, took him to the vet and he had a cancerous growth under his tongue and the Vet said that the cancer was eating his jaw. I felt so terible, but I didn't want to lose him so soon after Aruba. I just cry when I think about it, my two beautiful cats, both gone within three months of each other. Goodbye Garfield I love you and miss you you are now with your brother and Bob, he will look after you at Rainbow Bridge.
